Sustainability: Awareness into Action

Every two years, Brevard College chooses a campus theme, challenging everyone in the college family to explore the meaning, values, and applications of the theme in our lives as individuals and as members of a community. Previous themes include Global Citizenship and Freedom and Responsibility. For 2008 – 2010, the theme is Sustainability: Awareness into Action. 

Sustainability is generally defined as meeting needs for the present without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their needs. As a college, we will be exploring the theme along ecological, economic, and social lines, and activities and discussions are taking place in every corner of our campus. 

Theme-related activities include faculty and guest lectures; class and club presentations; and special campus-wide events.
