Infrastructure Operations Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages IT infrastructure activities as directed by the Network Manager. Includes responsibility for data and voice cable infrastructure. Requires extensive troubleshooting and project management activities, including design, planning, and implementation for a variety of data and voice infrastructure projects. Assists as contact for construction projects requiring data and voice cabling. Assists as a contact for all I.S.-related cabling projects as assigned.
Must understand basic system and network administration. Performs backups, reviews logs, and resolves conflicts in network systems and network monitoring software. Performs proactive and response-based network maintenance, implementation of network projects, and troubleshooting tasks for data systems cable plant, network and wireless data hardware. Monitors Help Desk System for network and other infrastructure trouble tickets, and responds to requests for service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree with specialization in data networks, plus a minimum of two years experience in data and voice infrastructure project management and cable installation required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Technical certifications such as MCSE, A+, and CCNA preferred. A minimum of two year experience with Windows servers and desktops (2003, XP, SQL, Exchange) required.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Extensive knowledge of copper and fiber cabling infrastructure standards
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Server Active Directory, Exchange Server, DNS, IIS.
- Extensive knowledge of Network and Security principles and practices.
- Strong Interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to research and problem solve issues independently.
- Valid driver license with good driving record.
- Availability to work after hours and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by supervisor.
- Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. Stooping, kneeling, reaching and repetitive motions.
