B.A., Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College)

I have served on the Brevard College faculty full-time since 1986. I am also a former student of Brevard College having attended the college for two years from 1970-1972 (during its days as a junior college). Most of my career as a teacher has been spent at Brevard College and during that time I have taught 2D Design, Drawing, Painting and Photography. Currently, my primary focus is photography, both as a teacher and visual artist. As with all of my Art Department colleagues in studio disciplines and Art History, I am professionally active in my field and consider involvement in personal work to be vital in support of my work as a teacher.

Inspired by the balance of strength and beauty found in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kyle Lusk creates sculptures that reflects his native land and his affinity for materials and as a maker of objects. He first studied art at Brevard College, earning an AFA in 1992, then earned his BFA in 1995 from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. Renowned for its excellent sculpture program, ECU was also where Lusk chose to study as a graduate, earning his MFA in 1998. While at ECU, Lusk gained ample experience with a wide range of sculptural media, processes and concepts. Since completion of his graduate work in 1998, Lusk has created and exhibited work in cities throughout the southeast and has many works in public and private collections.
