As an Exercise Science major at Brevard College, you will study human movement – exercise and sports – from a scientific perspective. You will have a well-rounded understanding and appreciation of the vital role that physical activity plays in our society. Our major encompasses a large number of potential career pathways, all of which revolve around the study of human movement in the form of exercise and sports.

The faculty of the Exercise Science program has extensive experience in a variety of areas. Dr. Tom Tait brought years of experiences leading a similar undergraduate program at Penn State. As the Head
Volleyball Coach at Penn State, he led the team to a National Title and was named National Coach-of-the Year. Other faculty members bring extensive teaching and/or coaching experience to their approach in Exercise Science and help in relating practical experience to scientific principles. Together, the faculty in the Exercise Science program is committed to their students and assists in helping students pursue their education in a variety of interesting ways.
Scholarship Information:
The Exercise Science & Wilderness Leadership Division awards Exercise Science scholarships to
upperclassmen who have declared their major and excelled in the classroom. Athletic Training Scholarships may be awarded to any new student, and requires working a specific number of hours per week assisting the Athletic Trainer. Scholarship amounts vary based on the number of qualified students. All new students, freshmen and transfer students, regardless of major, may qualify for academic scholarships through the Admission Office, ranging from $3,000 to $15,000. Need-based Financial Aid is also available to all students who qualify by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
