The Mathematics major is designed to develop mathematical skills and much more. The study of mathematics will also develop analytical and thinking skills and an appreciation of the contemporary and historical role of mathematics in society.
The foundation mathematics major receives enables the student to pursue a number of options upon graduation. Among these are: graduate studies in mathematics or other fields, teacher licensure, career opportunities such as actuarial science, biomathematics, financial mathematics, and others. Students can expect to work closely with the mathematics faculty in small classes and to develop their ability to communicate mathematics both orally and in writing.
