Theatre Arts K-12
THEATRE STUDIES The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies provides a broad-based and cross-disciplined approach to the study of theatre, promoting cooperative work and study experiences, creative expression, communication skills, and leadership training significant to individual success in the classroom and life beyond college. Students learn to manage resources: time, material, human, and monetary. Working as actors, stage managers, designers, technicians, house managers, publicists, directors and dramaturges, students gain a thorough understanding of theatre as a collaborative art form.
The Department of Theatre Studies offers students a serious and challenging beginning to their studies in theatre that prepares students for graduate study and careers in the field of theatre and beyond. The Department of Theatre Studies at Brevard College seeks to foster the creative, intellectual, and spiritual growth of students by instilling a commitment to artistic and personal excellence within a community of learning. These goals are achieved through a rigorous sequence of courses in the theatre core, supplemented by electives that offer more specialized training in specific areas. The program for Teacher Licensure prepares students to teach K-12 and embraces the North Carolina Teacher Standards.
