The Bachelor of Arts Theatre Studies major provides a broad-based and cross-disciplined approach to the study of theatre as an undergraduate major. Theatre is one of the most rewarding and comprehensive disciplines, since it includes development of the complete personality: the mind, the body, the imagination and the senses as part of an integrated whole. The program offers students a serious and challenging beginning to their studies in theatre and a background in areas that could lead to opportunities in writing, computer technology, public service, communications or human relations.

Brevard College Theatre Studies Mission Statement: The Theatre Studies Program promotes cooperative work and study experiences, human values, creative expression, and leadership and communication skills that are significant to individual success in the classroom and life beyond the college.

What makes the Brevard College Theatre Studies Program unique?
The Theatre Studies Program is dedicated to:
• guiding our students through intellectual and critical thinking skills
• constant interaction with our students in an effort to support and promote individual development in the arts
• preparing theatre students for graduate studies, viability in the work force and personal commitment to theatrical endeavors
• fostering the understanding of the importance and purpose of the arts, especially theatre, in world cultures
• providing opportunities for student developed and initiated projects

The Theatre Studies program lives in The Morrison Playhouse, a 2,500-square-foot black box theater, with sprung floor and state-of-the-art technical lighting, seating up to 150 with a variable seating configuration for a variety of theatrical, dance, and scholarly events. The Morrison Playhouse is located within the magnificent Porter Center for the Performing Arts.

Scholarship Information:
The Fine Arts Division awards Theatre scholarships to new freshmen and transfer students declaring
Theatre as their major. For information regarding application and audition processes, contact Dr. Bob White, Coordinator of the Theatre major. All students, Theatre Majors and all other majors, may also qualify for academic scholarships through the Admission Office, ranging from $3,000 to $15,000. Need-Based Financial Aid is also available to students who qualify as a result of filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
