BC Falls in the Battle of the Tornados On Tuesday Afternoon
 
Bristol, T.N. – The Brevard College men’s baseball team fell to the King College Tornado on Tuesday afternoon, dropping the road contest 5-2.
 
The loss drops the Tornados to 7-14 on the season, while King improved to 12-4 on the year with the win.
 
Brevard College opened up the game with a run in the top of the first as senior first-baseman Justin Frady doubled to score Luke Lovelace from second and put the Tornados up 1-0
 
King College answered in the bottom of the first with a run of their own when Joe Craven drove in Teon Richburg.

King took the lead for good in the fourth inning with two runs on two separate throwing errors by the Tornados.
 
In the bottom of the fifth, King College added two insurance runs to take a 5-1 lead, as Mike Torrence singled home Teon Richburg who led off the inning with a walk. After a walk to Justin Reising, Ryan Kennedy singled to score Torrence.
 
The Tornados battled back to load the bases with no outs off King reliever Brandon Frye in the top of the sixth, but were only able to score one run on as junior Spencer Linn hit a sacrifice fly to center, plating senior Seth Corliss from third and cut King’s lead to 5-2.

King’s Benny Fuller picked up the win, as he pitched five strong innings with seven strikeouts while only allowing two hits and one run.
 
Tornado pitcher Brandon Wallace picked up the save for King, as he shut down the Tornados in the final 1.1 innings of play.
 
BC starter Ryan Toney (1-2) picked up the loss for the Tornados, going five innings, allowing five runs, three of which were earned, on five hits and three strikeouts.
 
At the plate, the Tornados were led by Frady, who was 2-3 with an RBI double.
 
The Tornados will return to action this weekend, when they will travel to Mars Hill to face off with the Lions. The two teams will play a double-header on Saturday afternoon, with the first-pitch of the opening game set for 12 noon.
