Lincoln Memorial Completes Series Sweep of Tornados With 2-0 Win On Sunday
Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College men’s baseball team were only able to muster up thee hits on Sunday afternoon, as the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial completed the weekend series sweep of the Tornados with a 2-0 win.
In what was a pitcher’s duel for the first three innings of play between BC starter Shane Galloway and LMU starter Casey Sedley, Lincoln Memorial was able to put one on the board in the top of the fourth.
LMU’s Sedley hit a homerun over the right center field wall, helping himself, and giving the Railsplitters’ a 1-0 advantage.
The Railsplitters added a run in the top of the seventh as leftfielder Shane Kaufman scored on a single by centerfielder TeWayne Willis to put LMU up 2-0.
The two run lead was more than enough for relievers Mitch Kramer, Jason Davila and Ray Burchell, who combined to pitch the final three innings of play, holding the Tornado offense hitless over that span.
The loss goes to left-hander Shane Galloway (1-2), who went 7.1 innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out five LMU batters.
The win went to LMU’s Casey Sedley, who went six innings allowing no runs and three hits, while striking out four BC hitters.
The three BC hits came by way of Brice Warner (1-2) with a double, Luke Lovelace (1-1) and Adam Arrowood (1-3).
At the plate for LMU, pitcher Sedley was 2-4 with a homerun, while Willis was 2-3 with an RBI.
The Tornados (5-12) will be at home on Tuesday, March 4, when they will play host to Ohio Valley at 3 p.m.
