Tornados Drop Game to Carson-Newman
Jefferson City, T.N. – The Brevard College men’s baseball team fell to the Eagles of Carson-Newman 7-3 on Sunday afternoon in Jefferson City, T.N. With the win the Eagles completed the three-game weekend series sweep of the Tornados and improved to 29-12 on the year, while the Tornados fall to 9-23 overall for the season.
The Eagles jumped out to an 4-0 lead, as they pushed across four runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning highlighted by a Nick Achberger two-run homerun over the left-center field wall.
After the Eagles added a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Long, the Tornados freshman Matt Rose hit a solo shot in the top of the sixth to but BC on the board.
The solo shot was Rose’s first homerun of his career at Brevard.
The Tornados added two runs in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles held on for the 7-3 win.

Jacob Lambert (2-0) got the win for the Eagles. Lambert pitched six innings, giving up only three hits and one run. Eagle pitchers

Dustin Dalton finished out the game, giving up two hits and two runs.
BC junior starter Seth Laughter (0-6) was handed the loss, as the right-hander seven runs, five of which were earned, on 12 hits while striking out six C-N hitters.
At the plate, the Tornados were led by Matt Rose, who was 1-4 with a solo homerun. Junior Spencer Linn, freshman Stephen Mullis, senior Seth Corliss and junior Brice Warner all had one hit on the day.
The Tornados will return to action on Wednesday, April 1, as BC will host UVA Wise at Gil Coan Field on the campus of Brevard College. The double-header is slated for a 1 p.m. start time.
