Tornados Finish Ninth in Erskine Invitational
Due West, S.C. – The Brevard College men’s cross country team finished ninth out of 14 teams in the Erskine Invitational on Thursday afternoon.
The Tornados were led by senior Justin Holstein who finished in the top-20. Holstein crossed the line with a time of 29:36:00, which was good enough for 19th-place overall.
Junior Brandon Hopkins turned in a time of 32:25:00, good enough for a 51st-place showing, while teammate Harrison Vicini was right on his heels with a 52nd-place finish and a time of 32:38:00.
Newcomers Tiffen Tapia and Gary Stephenson finished with times of 32:44:00 and 34:10:00, respectively, while sophomore Zach Hazen crossed the finish line at 36:10:00.
With their ninth-place team finish, the Tornados finished ahead of teams such as North Greenville and Tusculum, as well as Southern Wesleyan University.
The Tornados will next compete on Saturday, October 20, when they will participate in the South Atlantic Conference Championship meet which is hosted by Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C.
