Head Coach Hamilton Adds Jerry Mynatt to BC Football Coaching Staff
Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College athletics department along with head football coach Paul Hamilton are proud to announce the addition of Jerry Mynatt to the Brevard College football coaching staff.
Mynatt, who coached under Hamilton at East Tennessee State University from 1997-2002, will be Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receivers Coach.
Coach Mynatt brings with him both head coaching experience and coaching experience at all levels. Mynatt was the head coach at Pikeville College in Pikeville, KY from 2003 -2006, where he posted a record of 19-12 over the three-year span. In 2005, Mynatt was chosen by the American Football Monthly as one of the “Hottest Coaches in America” and was named the 2005 Mid-South Conference Coach of they Year, as his team posted a 7-3 record, played for the league championship and led the team to the school’s first ever appearance in the post-season National Championship Playoff Series.
In 2004, in only his second season at Pikeville College, Mynatt led his squad to an 8-3 record and a second place conference finish after having being picked last in the pre-season polls.
During his tenure at Pikeville College, Mynatt helped produce three NFL signees including current Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Elbert Shumake, achieved the highest national ranking in the school’s history at No. 5 and still holds the record for most wins in Pikeville College history.
Prior to taking the reigns at Pikeville College, Mynatt worked under Coach Hamilton at East Tennessee University where he was the Passing Game Coordinator from 2000-2002 and an Assistant Football Coach from 1997-1999.
Coach Mynatt also was an Assistant Football Coach at Elon College in 1996 and at Charleston Southern University from 1993-1995.
Mynatt graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1992, where he was a member of the football team from 1989-1990. While at Carson-Newman he was a starter on the squad that finished the regular season undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the nation in NAIA and was a member of the NAIA National Football Championship team.
