Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at 2008 Tusculum Golf Invitational
Greeneville, T.N. – The Brevard College men’s golf team opened up their 2008 spring season this weekend, as the Tornados took an eighth-place team finish at the rain-abbreviated 2008 Tusculum Golf Invitational in Greeneville, T.N.
The Tornados finished in a tie for eighth-place with Walters State Junior College, as both teams turned in a combined team score of 302, +18. BC finished ahead of Tiffin University, Lincoln Memorial and Limestone College, as well as six other teams.
Brevard was led by junior Craig Galloway, who turned in a round of 74, +3, on Sunday, which was good enough to place him in a tie for 17th-place overall.
Sophomore Grant Carnie was right on the heels of Galloway, as he finished the afternoon tied for 27th overall with a round of 75, +4.
BC junior Myles Johnston carded a 76, +5, while senior David Martinez turned in a score of 77, +6. Johnston finished in a tied for 40th-place overall, while Martinez finished in a tie for 53rd-place.
Sophomore Thomas Bush also competed in the one day event, as Bush carded an 84, +13, for the afternoon.
Shorter College posted a team score of 288, +4, to win the tournament. The Hawks won the rain-shortened event by three shots over host Tusculum College and Grand Valley State, who each carded a round of 291, +7.
The Tornados will return to the links on March 17, when they will compete in the Montreat College Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Course in Hendersonville, N.C.
