Men’s Golf Wraps Up 2007 Fall Season at LMU Fall Invitational
Tazewell, T.N. – The Brevard College men’s golf team concluded their 2007 fall season this week, as they finished in 10th-place at the Lincoln Memorial Fall Invitational hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the Woodlake Golf Course in Tazewell, T.N.
The Tornados carded team scores of 298 and 300 over the two-day event, giving BC a combined team score of 598, good enough for a 10th-place finish out of 12 teams.
Senior David Martinez paced the Tornados, as he turned in a top-20 finish. Martinez turned in rounds of 74, +2 and 73, +1, to finish the two round event with a combined score of 147, +3, which was good enough to place him in a tie for 16th-place overall.
Junior Myles Johnston finished just one stroke behind Martinez, as Johnston carded rounds of 75, +3 and 73, +1, for a score of 148, +4, placing him in a tie at 21st-place.
Fellow junior Craig Galloway finished with a score of 151, +7, while sophomore Thomas Bush ended the tournament with a 152, +8. Galloway finished in a tie for 36th-place, while Bush ended up t-39th-place overall.
Sophomore Grant Carnie rounded out the Tornado competitors, as Carnie finished tied for 55th-place with his two day score of 165, +21.
The host school, Lincoln Memorial University, won the fall invitational tournament, as they carded rounds of 272 and 295 for a combined team score of 567.
Shorter College took second-place with a score of 572, while Wingate (581), Tusculum (581) and North Greenville (585) rounded out the top five.
The men’s golf team will take the winter months off and will begin it spring championship season on February 18 and 19 at the Mars Hill Invitational at Sunset Beach, N.C.
