Tornados Take Third in Independent Collegiate Tournament
Etowah, N.C. – The Brevard College men’s golf team once again put on an admirable performance at home this week, as the Tornados finished in third-place overall as a team in the Independent Collegiate tournament which they hosted at Etowah Valley Country Club in Etowah, N.C.
 
After shooting a combined team first round score of 307 , +19, on Monday, the Tornados managed to cut six strokes off for a  combined second round score of 301, +13, on Tuesday to place the BC in the top-five for the fourth straight tournament.
 
Brevard’s combined team second round score of 301 was the low team round score on day two.
 
The Tornados were led by the Grant Carnie, who turned in a team-low round of 75, +3, on Tuesday, to give him a two round score of 149, +7, for the tournament. The strong performance by Carnie overall placed him in a tie for seventh overall for the event.
 
BC junior Craig Galloway carded an even par 72 on day two for a combined 152 to put him in tie for 10th-place overall. Teammate Myles Johnston ended with a 155 for a tie at 21st-place.
 
Thomas Bush tied with Johnston with a combined two-day score of 155 and in a tie for 21st-place.  Finishing out the two-day event for the Tornados was senior David Martinez with a 158 and a tie for 34th-place overall.
 
North Greenville University finished the tournament in first, carding a 603, +27, as the Crusaders were led by Brad Caldwell who shot a two-round score of 144, even par for the tournament. Second place went to Campbellsville University out of the state of Kentucky with a 605, +29.
 
The Tornados were able to defeat South Atlantic Conference foes, Lenoir Rhyne (613), Lincoln-Memorial (629), and Mars Hill (632).
 
The Tornados will return to the links in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament on April 14th and 15th.
