Men’s Soccer Falls to Anderson University, 5-1
Anderson, S.C. – The Brevard College men’s soccer team was in action on Monday night, as they finally made up their game with Anderson University which was postponed back in early September due to lightning and inclement weather.
The Tornados did not fair well versus the Trojans of Anderson University, as the Trojans defeated BC, 5-1.
The loss drops the Tornados to 4-12-1 on the season, while Anderson improves its record to 5-9 overall.
Anderson took an early 1-0 lead at the 5:19 mark of the first half, when Paulo Passini ran on to a loose ball and fired a 15-yard blast past Brevard goalkeeper Trevor Redpath.
Yet BC did not give up as only four minutes later, Brevard’s co-captain Ian Townson tied the match at 1-1, when he connected on a free kick from 20-yards out.
The Townson goal would be the lone score for the Tornados, as Anderson took the lead for good in the 23rd minute when Stephon Henry scored from 10-yards out.
Anderson would add three more goals in the second half in a 14-minute span beginning at the 69:32 mark to put the game out of reach of the Tornados.
For the match, Anderson outshot the Tornados, 19-13.
Senior Trevor Redpath, who was back in between the posts for the Tornados, made nine saves on the night.
Coach Mascaro and the men’s soccer team’s final two games will be at home, on the campus of Brevard College. The next match for BC will be on Thursday, October 18, when they will host Coker College. The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
