Tornados Fall to No. 25 Wingate Bulldogs, 2-0
 
Wingate, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados men’s soccer team was defeated by the No. 25 ranked Wingate Bulldogs 2-0 in NCAA Division II men’s soccer action on Saturday night at the WU Soccer Complex.
 
With the loss Brevard falls to 3-9-1, while the Bulldogs improve to 11-1-0 on the season.
 
Wingate struck first in the opening half, when Junior Nyemb found an open Chris Bohach with a long pass, who then set up an open Kerrin Sheldon behind the BC defense who then put a shot into the back left corner of the net at the 19:45 mark giving the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead.
 
The Bulldogs added an insurance goal later in the opening frame, when Andru Harris took a cross from Sheldon and scored from just outside the box at the 37:52 mark, giving Wingate a 2-0 advantage.
 
Senior Trevor Redpath again played upfront for the Tornados, posting two shots and putting one of them on frame for the game, while Kyle Hamilton had two shots on goal for the Tornados.
 
The Tornados were out shot by the ranked Bulldogs 21-5 for the match, with Wingate holding a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. The physical match included 31 total fouls and six cards.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Nicholas Banks played all 90 minutes in net for the Tornados, collecting four saves.
 
The men’s soccer team will visit NCAA Division I Winthrop University on Tuesday, October 9, with the match slated to start at 7 p.m.
