Tornados Dynamic Duo Lead BC to a 2-1 Win
Emory, V.A. – The Brevard College men’s soccer team’s dynamic duo of junior Kyle Hamilton and freshman Miro Mustonen struck again on Friday afternoon, as each player scored a goal to lead the Tornados to a 2-1 victory of Emory and Henry.
With the victory of the Wasps, the Tornados improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Tornados stormed to an early 1-0 lead when a third of the way through the first half Hamilton took a shot from 40 yards out, placing the ball just over the goalkeepers outstretched hands and into the back of the net.
Yet the Wasps didn’t go away as right before the end of the first half, in the 41st minute, Emory and Henry knotted up the score at 1-1 with a goal of their own.
The score would remain tied at 1-1 for most of the second half until Miro Mustonen gave the Tornados a 2-1 lead in the 80th minute. Off a corner kick by fellow teammate Kyle Stanforth, Mustonen headed the ball past the keeper and into the net giving the Tornados the lead for good.
The assist was Stanforth’s second of the game.
The dynamic duo of Hamilton and Mustonen have combined to score all six of the Tornados’ goals this season, with each one notching three apiece.
The men’s soccer team will take on their first SAC opponent on Wednesday, September 5, when they will travel to Newberry, S.C. to face off with Newberry College. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
