Men’s Soccer Fall on the Road at Lincoln Memorial
Harrogate, T.N. – The Brevard College men’s soccer team was on the road this Saturday afternoon, as they traveled to Tennessee to face of with Lincoln Memorial, members of the South Atlantic Conference.
The Tornados fought valiantly but could not get the ball across the goal line, falling to the Railsplitters, 5-0.
With the loss the Tornados fall to 2-7, while Lincoln Memorial improved to 7-2 with the win.
LMU got on the board three times in the first half, as Jemal Talore scored on a cross from Nelson Pizarro at the 27:27 mark to take an early 1-0 lead. Pizarro would then add a goal of his own at the 32:48 mark, as he put a shot into the back of the goal from 20-yards out.
The third goal in the first period came in the 35th minute, when Leonardo de Barros put a shot from close to 35-yards out, giving the home team a 3-0 lead going into the half.
LMU’s Leandro Periera and Guilherme Alves added two goals in the second half, to give Lincoln Memorial the 5-0 victory.
Senior keeper Trevor Redpath, again stood strong in goal for the Tornados, posting 10 saves for the game, as he faced 36 shots.
Sophomore co-captain Ian Townson again led the offensive charge for BC, as he posted three shots for the day, putting one shot on goal.
The men’s soccer team will return to action on Tuesday, September 25, when they will remain in SAC play when they play host to the Lions of Mars Hill College on the campus of Brevard College. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
