Men’s Soccer Falls to Carson-Newman, 2-0
Jefferson City, T.N. – The Brevard College men’s soccer team fell to 0-2 against South Atlantic Conference opponents this season, as they fell on the road at Carson-Newman, 2-0.
The loss drops the Tornados to 2-5 on the year, while the No. 10 nationally ranked Eagles improve to 6-0 and remain undefeated.
The Tornados played the nationally ranked Eagles tough, but were unable to find the back of the net for the third time this season.
The Eagles were able to remain unbeaten thus far this season by picking up two scores in the first half. Carson-Newman took an early 1-0 lead at the 15:02 mark of the first period, as Dane Hodge put a header into the back of the net.
The Eagles would add an insurance goal in the 33rd minute as Lars Holstad put a header past BC goalkeeper Trevor Redpath and into the back of the net to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Senior keeper Redpath posted nine saves in goal for the Tornados, as he faced a total of 27 shots over the 90:00 minute time period.
Leading the offensive charge was Ian Townson, who took four shots on the day, putting two of those on goal.
The men’s soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 19, when the Tornados will host Tusculum College at 4 p.m. on the campus of Brevard College.
