Tornados Fall To Bears, 6-1 in SAC Play

Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College men’s soccer team faced off with the Lenoir-Rhyne College Bears on Tuesday afternoon, falling in what was a very physical game 6-1.

The loss drops the Tornados to 2-4 on the season, while the Bears remain undefeated at 5-0.

The Bears got on the board first, scoring in the first minute of the game to take an early 1-0 lead that they would not give up. LRC’s Matthew Lee notched the first goal of the game 53 seconds into the match, sneaking a shot past BC’s keeper Trevor Redpath.

Ryan Evans led the Bear’s offense attack, as he scored two of Lenoir-Rhyne’s six goals in the second half. Luis Carrizosa had a goal and an assist for the match, while Lee picked up an assist in the second half to go along with his first half goal.

The Tornados lone goal of the game came at the 74:24 mark, as Douglas Neill battled the Bears’ goalkeeper for a ball in the box, it scooted away only for a second as Neill stayed with the loose ball and put a shot right into the back of the net, putting Brevard on the board and spoiling the Bears’ shutout.

The goal was Neill’s first of the season.

Brevard will return to action this Saturday, September 15, as they will continue their SAC play on the road where they will face off with Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, T.N. The match is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
