Brevard Has A Number of Individuals Compete at Liberty University
 
Lynchburg, Va. – The Brevard College men’s and women’s track team had a number of individuals travel to Lynchburg, Va. this Saturday to compete in the Ontrack Open indoor track and field event hosted by Liberty University. The event had over 30 teams from the Division I, II and III levels.
 
On the women’s side, Hannah Beck participated in the 3000 meter run, where she crossed the finish line in 29th with a time of 13:21.03.
 
Also competing was BC’s Chynna Shipp, who competed in the 400 meter dash event, turning in a finals time of 1:11.15, which gave her a 35th-place finish.
 
On the men’s side of the event, Brandon Hopkins finished in fifth-place in the 500 meter dash event, turning in a time of 1:11.40.
 
Freshman Justin Fleming had two impressive finishes, one in the 200 meter dash and the other in the 60 meter dash. Fleming turned in a 12th-place finish in the 200 meter dash event, finishing with a time of 23.28. In the 60 meter dash, Fleming crossed the finish line with a time of 7.17, good enough for 18th overall.
 
Fellow Tornado sprinter Shaton Pratt turned in a time of 7.37 in the 60 meter dash, finishing 38th-place overall. Pratt also competed in the 200 meter dash, finishing with a time of 24.05, placing him in 36th overall for the event.
 
Also competing for the Tornados was Stephen Dawson and Stanley Jones. Dawson took 26th in the men’s 60 meter hurdles event, turning in a time of 9.83. Dawson also took 13th-place overall in the triple jump event with a distance of 12.04m. Jones competed in the long jump event, turning in a distance of 4.78m.
 
This was the first event of the year for the Tornados, as BC will next compete on February 8, at Appalachian State University.
