Krogman Sets School Career Scoring Record in 64-62 Brevard Win
Brevard, N.C. – Senior forward Holly Krogman made history on Thursday night, as she became the All-Time Career Scoring Leader in women’s basketball history at Brevard College. Krogman led BC with 16 points in the Tornados 64-62 win over the Cobras of Virginia Intermont College.
The win bumps the Tornados to 5-4 on the season, while the Cobras fall to 4-8 on the year.
Virginia Intermont had won the previous meeting between these two teams earlier this season however, the Tornados would not let this game go, battling from the start to finish to hold off for the two-point victory.
The Tornados jumped out to an early 10 point lead at 18-8 with 8:34 remaining in the opening half and didn’t relinquish the lead in the first 20 minutes, taking a 36-23 lead into the halftime period. BC shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from the floor in the first half and held the visiting Cobras to 38.5 percent shooting from the field.
In the second half, the Tornados would cool off and the Cobras made a run, eventually taking the lead at the 4:52 mark, 52-51, off a three-point play by Haley Odle.
The Cobras would increase their lead to seven points only a minute later, yet the Tornados would not go down without a fight as BC bounced back to outscore the visiting Lady Cobras 8-4 in the final two minutes of play to seal the 64-62 victory.
The Tornados had four players in double-digits scoring led by Krogman’s 16 points, as sophomores Samantha Winn and Lindsay Thrift had 14 and 12 points, respectively, while freshman Amanda Whitaker added 13 points and five rebounds from the post position.
