Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College women’s and men’s basketball teams have partnered with close to 800 other schools around the country to participate in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2008 “Think Pink” Night project. Special events will take place on Wednesday, February 13 when the Tornados host North Greenville University at 6 p.m. in Boshamer Gymnasium.

The WBCA’s “Think Pink” program is a global, unified effort for the WBCA’s nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The week of February 8-17 has been set aside for the 2008 initiative.

For both of the women’s and men’s contests against North Greenville on February 13, all fans are asked to wear pink to the game.

There will be a table for donations in the lobby of Boshamer Gymnasium, as well as a pledge list in which you as a BC fan can sign up to pledge any amount of money you desire for specific Tornado team accomplishments (free throws made, three-pointers made, steals, etc.) during the duration of the basketball games against North Greenville.

All proceeds, money pledged and donations will go to the Patients of Cancer Care of WNC, PA of Brevard.

Prior to the games on February 13, both the women and men’s basketball Tornado teams will host Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, February 9, with the women’s game starting at 2 p.m.

The NCAA has also partnered with the “Think Pink” initiative by implementing the “Calling for a Cure” campaign where all NCAA women’s basketball officials will be blowing a pink whistle February 8-17.
