Women’s Basketball Wins in Overtime, 79-72
Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College women’s basketball team won their second straight home game on Thursday night, again in dramatic fashion, as they defeated the Lady Buffaloes of Milligan College, 79-72 in overtime.

The Tornados jumped out to an early 2-0 lead at the 19:18 mark of the first half and did not look back as they did not surrender the lead at all in the opening 20 minutes of play.
BC pushed their lead up to 14 points, 35-21, with a little over 2:00 remaining in the half, however, Milligan came fighting back to cut the lead in half, making the score 35-28 at the halftime intermission.
The Tornados would continue to hold a slight lead over the Lady Buffaloes throughout most of the second half, but were unable to add to their lead as Milligan continued to stay within striking distance of BC.
With only seven minutes remaining in the game, the visiting Lady Buffaloes would hit a three-point basket to take their first lead of the game, 54-52.
The two teams would go back-and-forth with Milligan maintaining the lead until 20 seconds remained on the clock and BC sophomore guard Samantha Winn headed to the free throw line to shoot two free throws.
With the score at 63-62 in favor of Milligan, Winn stepped up to the charity stripe and miss the first one and made the second to knot things up at 63-63.
The Tornados would not get another good shot in regulation, forcing the game to go into overtime.
In the overtime period, BC made big free throws down the stretch and outscored the Lady Buffaloes, 16-9 in the extra frame to secure the 79-72 win.
