BC Cycling Competes at Conference Championships
Clemson, S.C. - The SECCC Conference Championships were held this past weekend in Clemson, SC, with two full days of racing in both endurance and gravity events. The team is hot in contention for a team national’s qualification, and this forced some riders to leave their primary disciplines to gain more points. On Saturday’s gravity events, Danny Cesare, Kyle Willis, Gattis Tyler, Matt St. Marie, Joanne Tuttle, and Nan Pugh all raced both Dual Slalom and Downhill on extremely fast and fun courses. Saturday also was the day for the Short Track races, and the entire team was able to go out and get some points. The course featured a painful climb and an exciting downhill that was part of the downhill course. Sunday found the team racing on the endurance side of things in the cross country event. The course was a short 25 minute loop with fast downhills and challenging climbs. Tristan Cowie had the high result for the team in 3rd, with Matt Wells gaining another top ten. Matt St. Marie suffered with a crash and a mechanical that effectively ended his race, while Danny Cesare’s bike lost a crank on the first lap.
