BC Scores Two Goals in the Second Half to Defeat Converse College, 2-1
 
Spartanburg, S.C. – The Brevard College women’s soccer team scored two goals in the second half to defeat Converse College, 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C.
 
Converse College scored early in the first half, when at the 6:45 mark Sarah Schiff found a cutting Ashley Carrie who put the shot in the back of the net past BC’s keeper Sydney Douglas, giving the home team an early 1-0 lead.
 
However, the Tornados would not give up as they would even up the score at 1-1 in the 55th minute. Freshman Cherie Haseltine notched her third goal of the season to give new life to the Tornados.
 
Junior Courtney Sofferin would score the second BC goal in the 74th minute, giving the Tornados a 2-1 lead. Sofferin’s unassisted goal would prove to be the game winner.
 
Brevard out shot Converse College 13-7, for the game. BC also picked up two corner kicks to Converse’s none. 
 
BC goalkeeper Sydney Douglas picked up the win for the Tornados, collecting three saves for the match.
 
The win moves BC to 4-7 on the season and stops their four game losing streak.
 
The women’s soccer team will return to action this Saturday, September 29, when they will host Lincoln Memorial University at 5 p.m.
