Nationally Ranked Eagles Soar Past Tornados in Women’s Soccer Action
 
Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College women’s soccer team fell to 0-2 against South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday afternoon, as they were shutout by the Eagles of Carson-Newman 8-0.
 
With the win the No. 18 nationally ranked Carson-Newman Eagles improved to 7-1 on the season, while the loss drops the Tornados to 3-5.
 
The Eagles dropped out to a quick lead and would not look back as they downed the Tornados 8-0, holding BC to no shots for the game.
 
Carson-Newman’s Claire Ramsdale got the Eagles on the scoreboard at the 1:34 mark of the game, putting a shot past the BC keeper Sydney Douglas to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
 
The Eagles next seven goals would come by way of three players, as Nikki Brennan completed a hat trick, scoring three goals for the match, while Sage Sizemore and Morgan Gruenenfielde each added two goals apiece.
 
The Eagles Zarmena Kasparites picked up three assists on the day, while Brittany Moore dished out two assists of her own in the shutout.
 
The BC defense was on their heels the whole game, as Carson-Newman continued to attack, putting up 33 shots for the game.
 
BC keeper Sydney Douglas stood tall and tried her best against the barrage of Eagles shots, as she picked up 12 saves on the day before suffering an injury late in the game.
 
Coach Stojetz and the women’s soccer team will look to turn things around when they return to action this Wednesday, September 19, when they travel to Newberry, S.C. to do battle with the Newberry Indians. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
