The Brevard College women’s tennis program enters 2007-2008 in their third year of competition. This will also mark their second year as a provisional NCAA DII program and first year as provisional members of the South Atlantic Conference.
The BC women return their entire top six from 2006-2007 and will add newcomer Lindsay Shaffer to the mix. Shaeffer a freshman from Perrysburg, Ohio is expected to make an immediate impact on the tornado line up.
“Lindsay has extensive tournament experience will be a great spark for us this year.”
“We are excited about our opportunities this year,” said Coach Thomson. “The addition of freshman Lindsay Shaeffer and the return of Sara Douglas from a season ending injury last year will give us great depth in our line-up.”
The ladies once again will play a very tough schedule including Tiffin University of Ohio, a road trip to NCAA Division I member Western Carolina and a visit from NCAA Division I Big East Member West Virginia University.
“We have our work cut out for us, but they are very excited about the up coming season and are eager for the challenge,” continued Thomson.
Head Coach Paul Thomson is entering his third year at Brevard. He has been focused on strong recruiting and developing players on and off of the courts.
“We are still not where we want to be but we are making great strides to become a strong competitive Division II program. I have been very blessed with the players and families we have been able to bring into the program. I am very excited about the direction that we are moving and am looking forward to the future of the program.”
