Tornados Compete at Appalachian State University Limited Open Indoor Meet
Boone, N.C. – Both the men’s and women’s track & field teams had a number of individuals compete at the Appalachian State University Limited Open Indoor Meet on Friday afternoon at the Holmes Center in Boone, N.C.
Brevard competed in the event versus a number NCAA Division I, II and NAIA schools including the likes of Wake Forest, Appalachian State, East Tennessee State, Gardner-Webb, UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Asheville, South Carolina State, Mars Hill, Carson-Newman, Queens, Milligan and King College.
On the women’s side, junior distance runner Alycia Andrade turned in a 10th-place finals finish in the 3000 meter run, crossing the finish line at 11:47.86. Andrade’s top-10 finish was the best on the day for the young Tornado squad.
Sophomore Hannah Beck also competed in the 3000 meter run, as she turned in an 18th-place finish with a time of 13:31.61.
BC’s Meghan Grimes turned in a top-20 finish, as she crossed the finish line in 18th-place with a time of 7:33.26 in the 1 mile run event.
The meet on Friday was the second and final indoor track and field competition that the Tornados have competed in this season.
Both the women’s and men’s track and field teams will open up their 2008 outdoor season on March 15, when they will compete at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.
