Banner Elk, N.C. – The Brevard College women’s track and field team had a number of individuals compete this Friday afternoon at the LMC Early Bird Open hosted by Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.

 

On the women’s side, all five BC individuals had strong performances.

 

Junior Alycia Andrade took second-place in the 1500 meter event, finishing with a time of 5:30.10.

 

Sophomores Hannah Beck and Meghan Grimes took fourth and fifth, respectively in the 1500 meter event. Beck crossed the finish line with a time of 6:21.90, while Grimes was close behind with a time of 6:37.80.

 

In the field events, Grimes took third-place in the women’s discus field event, as she turned in a throw of 22.59 meters.

 

Fellow sophomore Chynna Shipp turned in a jump of 14 feet 3.5 inches in the long jump event, which was good enough for second-place overall.

 

The Tornados will return to competition on Friday, March 28, when they will compete at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.
