CMSI

Welcome to The Center for Multicultural and Service Initiatives!

In line with Brevard College’s mission to provide graduates with the foundation for responsible citizenship and lifelong personal and professional development,
the CMSI strives to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for learning and to provide opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the community to engage in mutually beneficial partnerships.

Tell us the GREAT things you are doing!  Submit your service hours HERE.

CMSI Goals
As the central location on campus for collecting and sharing information regarding multicultural and service programs, events, and education, the CMSI aims to:

  • Promote open dialogue and communication in order to challenge bias and expand their cultural knowledge and appreciation
  • Foster a sense of self awareness and identity
  • Cultivate a culture of service at Brevard College that extends into a life-long commitment for individuals
  • Create and promote meaningful opportunities that enhance learning through action and reflection while addressing a variety of social issues and needs (social justice)
  • Provide students with volunteer opportunities based on personal and academic interests which in turn provides the community with energetic and passionate volunteers
  • Consult with faculty, staff, and students regarding service-learning and multicultural competency
  • Collect and track the number of service-hours provided by volunteers from campus

Stop by the office to check out the database filled with information on local non-profits students can volunteer at and faculty can work with for service-learning projects.  Not sure where to go?  We also have opportunities organized based on academic study and/or personal interest.
