Frequently Asked Questions

What are Intramural Sports?
Intramural Sports (IMs) are organized sport competitions between Brevard College students and/or Faculty/Staff.  Teams are made up of friends, classmates, etc and must register with the Office of Student Involvement and it is FREE to participate!

What sports are offered?
We aim to offer a wide range of sports including Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Indoor Soccer, Floor Hockey, Basketball, Dodgeball, Kickball, Volleyball and if you have any suggestions for additional sports you are encouraged to let a staff member know.

How do I play?
Intramural Sport teams are typically comprised of friends, classmates, roommates, etc.  We recommend that you form a team by asking your friends to participate! One person needs to be designated as the team captain as this person acts as the liaison between the Office of Student Involvement and the rest of the team. Don’t forget you can join a league as a free agent.

When and where are the intramural games?
All Intramural games are held on the Brevard College campus.  Most indoor sports will be held in the Auxiliary gym with Flag Football and Volleyball taking place on designated areas on campus.  All intramural games are held on Thursday and Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Are there practices?
Some teams may elect to hold practices on their own, but there are no scheduled practices for Intramural Sports. However, there will be designated open gym time for specific sports leading up to each intramural sport.

What if I didn’t play sports in high school?  Do I have to be good to play intramurals?
Nope!  All skill levels are welcome.  Intramural Sports promote sportsmanship, teamwork and participation so we encourage you to come out and have fun!

How many people can I have on my roster?
Most sports do not have a limit to the maximum amount of people you can have on a roster.  However, you must have a minimum number of players to start any game.  If you are short on players, you may contact someone from the Free Agent List.

Do I have to be a student at Brevard College in order to play?
Yes, all participants must be a Brevard College student due to liability and insurance reasons. Faculty/Staff, and alumni are also eligible for participation in Intramural Sports.  You must present your student ID card in order to play.
