The primary purpose of counseling at Brevard College is the prevention of serious problems, as well as providing an opportunity for personal growth and develoment.  Recognizing that college years are a time of transition and development, counselors are committed to helping students navigate the difficult transitions and changes in their life journey.  At the Stamey Wellness Center, professional counselors are available to listen, support, and encourage you while you meet and explore the challenges in your life.  Sometimes students feel overwhelmed and have difficult decisions to make.  Counseling is designed to help you through those times.  Through counseling you have the opportunity to learn more about yourself and gain new skills, change unwanted patterns and build upon your strengths and abilities.  Faculty and staff may also access counseling services for personal counseling or consultation regarding students of concern or other matters.  Our services are free to Brevard College students, faculty, and staff.

Who is Counseling For?

Everyone can benefit from counseling.  Students often seek counseling to deal with a range of concerns that may include academic pressures or difficulties, depression, low self-esteem, stress and/or anxiety, eating problems, substance abuse, loneliness, relationships, dating and sex, career decisions, and many other concerns.
