Author Lonnie Busch reading from his Award-Winning Novella, Turnback Creek.

Lonnie Busch’s Novella, Turnback Creek, won the Clay Reynold’s Prize from the Texas Review Press for best Novella.  Judge Clay Reynolds comments on the book: “This (novella) bittersweet tale of a confrontation of one old man with mortality, his own and that of those who mean the most to him, and passion, his own an that of those who love him, defies the gravitational pull into despond and emerges as a very nearly inspirational story of the discovery of affirmed values.”  Ron Rash, award-wining author of several novels, most recently A World Made Straight, says the work is “A vividly realized, heartrending but never sentimental novella about one man’s inability to go gently into death’s good night.  Lonnie Busch is an exciting new voice in Southern fiction.”  Lonnie’s short stories have also been published widely and have won of been finalists for several awards.  As well as an award-winning writer, Busch is an artist, illustrator and has worked for the U.S Postal System, Anheuser-Busch, and recently did cover art for Jimmy Buffet’s book, A Salty Piece of Land. For more information on Lonnie Busch and Turnback Creek, go to his website www.turnbackcreekbook.com. This is an event not to be missed.
