“Old Time Fridays” summer concert series at Duckpond Pottery. The Crooked Pine Band will perform July 26. Admission is free donations essential. The series is produced by a local consortium of old time musicians under the name of OTTO WOOD: “Old Time Transylvania Organization … With Out Official Designation.”
Every June and July Friday will feature a different formation of regional musicians performing from 7:30-9 p.m. An open jam follows each concert.
“Our number one goal is to make this music totally inclusive,“ said Marion Boatwright, one of the organizers. “Bring your mandolins, guitars and washboards. The jams are nothing but a grand time. This music was passed on to us and we’re doing the same.”
Tommy Anderson is another organizer for Old Time Fridays. He said “Bring a lawn chair and snacks. There’s never been a better spot for music on a summer’s night than Duckpond’s deck on the French Broad riverbank.”
