Brevard College Climbing is comprised of highly motivated students who share a passion for rock climbing.
Whether mastering complex boulder problems or ascending overhanging headwalls, Brevard College Climbing offers a great opportunity to hone your skills with dedicated and like-minded enthusiasts.
Some students climb competitively. Other students climb for exercise. All students climb for fun.
Looking Glass Rock and Cedar Rock in the national forest just a few miles from campus offer world class climbing opportunities on pristine granite with several faces over 500 feet. Looking Glass Rock is the highest monolith in the Eastern United States and has a wide range of single and multi-pitch routes from moderate scrambles to technical 5.13 terrain.
The town of Brevard is also home to Brevard Rock Gym, an indoor climbing gym just a few blocks from campus. Brevard Rock Gym offers top rope climbing, bouldering, and indoor instruction. If you’re a seasoned climber or a beginner that wants to try rock climbing, the Rock Gym is a great place to start. The Rock Gym is owned and operated by Brevard College faculty member Cameron Austin.
If you’re interested in competition, join the Brevard Climbing Team. This group of climbing members compete all over the country in collegiate climbing competitions. Members of the BC Climbing Team recently excelled at the 2014 Collegiate Climbing Competition National Championships.
We look forward to seeing you soon in the Rock Gym or at the local crag!
