The Brevard College Debate Society was organized in 2001. As stated in the society’s constitution, our mission is “to provide a forum for the awareness and discussion of issues that affect students as members of broader societies, allowing them through their involvement to become more responsible participants within their polities; to promote tolerance of divergent opinions.”
As a service to the Brevard College Campus, since 2005, the BC Debate Society has fostered awareness and recognized the significance of the U.S. Constitution by hosting events to celebrate Constitution Day. Normally these events are held during the week of September 17th . These events include providing new and transfer students copies of the U.S. Constitution. Activities also include published articles regarding the federal observance of Constitution Day in the Brevard College newspaper, The Clarion, and presentations by students and faculty.
