The Outing Club Mission Statement: To be a resource for individuals interested in the outdoors, the learning of outdoor skills, healthy social activities, networking, community service, and professional development.
The Outing Club’s events are geared toward all lovers of the outdoors at any level of expertise, and have included kayaking, rock climbing, back packing, canoeing, and hiking. The Outing Club’s focus is to involve as many possible students of Brevard College in their activities, and to mirror the diversity of students in the Wilderness Leadership Experiential Education (or WLEE) major. When students participate in the Outing Club’s activities, they create a more unified campus and develop a stronger respect for the environment.
Brevard College is located in one of the most diverse areas of the country for outdoor recreation and education, and the College heavily utilizies the enormous nearby wilderness areas to help students develop into skilled and responsible outdoor leaders. Brevard has greatly increased in students with well-developed skills and strong interests in outdoor recreation, and, as a result, several students with a passion for outdoor recreation started the Outing Club.
